Matt will sign anything you put in front of him in a public space so long as it is legal, not a bio-hazard, and not a real human foot.
No. He can’t read. Sorry.
LitRPG is a shorthand for “Literary Role-Playing Game.” Although often described as a genre in its own right, it’s more of a narrative framework that uses video game mechanics to structure the world and the story being told. These types of stories have characters and plot just like any other novel, but they also have things like character stats, levels, achievements, health bars, and magic systems.
For example, instead of the main character simply punching a monster, they punch a monster with their Iron Fist skill, causing 20 extra points of damage and inflicting the “Stunned” debuff on their target. How much the numbers actually factor into the story depends entirely on the author – “crunchier” LitRPGs put more emphasis on fleshing out the mechanics and numbers, whereas “smoother” LitRPGs don’t put as much focus on such things. Dungeon Crawler Carl is generally regarded as a smooth LitRPG.
Matt pinky promises that, unless he gets hit by a bus or randomly dies, he WILL finish Dominion of Blades. Eventually.
Matt will have a P.O. Box for fan mail set up soon. When that happens, the address will be made available here, but until then you’ll have to squirrel away all the love letters you wrote for him.
Soundbooth Theater is an audio production company headed by Jeff Hays, the narrator for the DCC audiobooks. They specialize in full-cast audiobooks and Audio Deep Dives – multicast immersive audiobooks enhanced with sound effects and music.
The Immersion Tunnel is the enhanced audiobook for Dungeon Crawler Carl, featuring a full cast, original music, extra scenes, and bonus content. Jeff Hays returns as the voices of Donut, Carl, and the AI, but everyone else is voiced by the talented team over at SBT. It’s pretty damn cool, and the first hit is free. Check out the first episode of the DCC Immersion Tunnel here..
SBT has also done work for Matt’s other books – check out the Audio Deep Dive for Kaiju: Battlefield Surgeon and the audiobook for Matt’s horror novel, The Grinding.
Universal International Studios has purchased the TV rights to Dungeon Crawler Carl, with Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door studio set to develop it. Chris Yost, one of the guys who wrote Thor: Ragnarok and The Mandalorian, is set to adapt the book. See this article for more information about the TV show deal.
Both Invitation Bookshop and The Signed Page will have signed pre-orders.
Invitation Bookshop is the regular place to get signed books while the Signed Page will be the place for white glove first edition service. A signed book is also a reward for being a Patreon supporter at the highest tier, though it may take some time for it to arrive.
The Backstage at the Pineapple Cabaret is a bonus DCC novella exclusive to the Ace editions of the books. Each book has a chapter of the novella in the back – the first one is told from the POV of Rory the goblin shamanka from Book 1. Reading the novella is not necessary to get the full plot of DCC, but it is a very cool extra that you can only find in the Ace print editions (for now).
